Back in Operation

Hi all,
We are back in operation. We have had some trials today as we discovered additional affects to the center as a result of having no HVAC. We are in the process of reviewing our evacuation procedures so that we can build on what we have learned.
Hopefully we will not need them anytime soon.

Power Update

I have been told that Capital Projects expects to have a generator at 900 S Jeff Davis on Thursday or Friday. This is good news so there will be power even if Entergy can't get it going otherwise.

FEMA To assist evacuees with expenses

FEMA just announced that they will assist evacuees with costs they have incurred during evacuation. This is good news for some of our staff.

New Orleans and Power

Hi all,
The reports of power being restored are positive although we still do not have 100% confirmation on the center itself. I hope to get that today. I do know that power has been restored to my apartment in the Lower Garden District. At this point I know many are heading back to town and are on the road. I hope everyone stays safe.

Recovery Center Reopening

Hi everyone. At this point the Recovery Center will re-open on Saturday Sept 6. All staff should plan to report to work. We are in the process of calling all staff members but feel free to call me if you have not been contacted yet.
Take care and drive safe back to New Orleans

Morning After...

So it is Tuesday morning after the storm. So far we know that Tulane suffered little damage to any buildings. I have not had a direct report as yet on the center yet but am working on that now. I hope to be able to post later today what our decision is regarding return. As you all know getting the staff back with the least work time lost. However, we work in a Tulane facility so that may drive our return.

Labor Day Update

Hi all,
It looks like we may have been spared but it isn't over yet. Mayor Nagin is saying the city may be able to reopen as soon as Tuesday evening. All Recovery Center employees need to stand by. Our plan is to bring you all back as quickly as possible. It will of course depend on electricity. If we can go back this week we will. We know how important being able to work is to our employees so we are going to do what we can to get you back to work as quickly as possible.
Stay safe,
Del

Center closed until further notice

Hi all,
We will be keeping the Center closed until further notice. Employees will be notified either through phone calls or through this site on when they should report back to work.
We are all watching the storm and it looks like by this time tomorrow we should know much much more.
Take care all and be safe,
Del Hamilton

Waiting and Watching

Hi all,
I have landed in Minnesota and am on pins and needles. I am monitoring the storm and will be touching base on Sunday. We will be activating the phone tree to notify eveyone of our status.
Stay safe and pray for New Orleans.
